Mat Watson creates otherworldly sonic journeys through modular synthesisers and drums, blending Kosmische-inspired textures with dynamic rhythms. As the driving force behind solo projects Solar Cells and Other Places, his music spans experimental electronics, immersive sound worlds, and exploratory compositions.
His creative output extends to large-scale works with career highlights, composing and conducting the inaugural MESS Synthesiser Orchestra at the Sidney Myer Music Bowl and creating the acclaimed work, Heavy Spectra for Melbourne Music Week. Collaborations include Taipan Tiger Girls, Underground Lovers Moda Discoteca, ESG, and Boredoms’ BoaDrum among countless others. With performances across Australia, Japan, the USA, and Europe, Watson’s work resonates on both local and international stages.
